Student Cookery Basics Part 1, Kitchen Essentials - August 14th

Jackie has run a tremendously successful catering company for more than 20 years, serving up delicious foodie delights to the who’s who of London and the Home Counties. Tremendously talented and always fun to be around, we are delighted to welcome her to Ripley Court School.

The course

August 14th 2024, 11.30am - 5.30pm

Part one of our cookery course is aimed at young people (16+) who know either very little or absolutely nothing about what goes on in a kitchen! Perfect for curious teens but particularly for young people who are about to leave home and need to be able to fend for themselves, this hands-on course is packed full of useful hints and hacks. Held in the Ripley Court teaching kitchen, it will cover the basics of the following:

• Budgeting and shopping for a simple, healthy menu
• Food preparation and knife skills
• Everyday cooking techniques
• Food storage and hygiene
• Good kitchen practices

After a busy day of demonstrations, cooking and food sampling, those who attend this course will leave with new skills, improved kitchen confidence and a pot of their own cooking to enjoy at home (no need to provide the container, a complementary pot will be provided).

Aprons will be provided but clothing may still be splashed so please dress appropriately and make sure to wear close-toed shoes. We regret that, due to limited space, we can not cater for allergies or specific diets on this course.

Occasionally a course might need to be cancelled or rescheduled. We will send an email to advise you of the cancellation and, if possible provide a new date for the course. We will endeavour to give at least 7 working days notice prior to the course start date.

Should you need to cancel your booking, please provide at least 7 working days prior to the course start date. Failure to provide sufficient notice will result in your being charged the full course fee.
